Cold group seedlings part 2....2014

The Sphaeros so far:

This cross between Rosa Lila x Gelber Engel, was a pleasant surprise....it obviously took after it's pollen parent.....it's big, open face is a delight.....most definitely a keeper...

Again this is one of Alan Ashworths crosses...

Below is Rosa Lila x Hurstwood Bow...a very pretty dusty mauve...
Only having 4 petal points gives the corolla a square shape......It's a nice little thing...
Slightly perfumed too.

H.Bryony x H. Hannah is deeper in colour the 2nd flush...quite pretty..

These two are the parents of the pod that I'm waiting on..top and bottom
With all the colours that are in this cross, goodness knows what will turn up...

More to come........
Well, the long awaited pod ripened, but it was totally empty...darn it!!

It's September now and the cold group are starting to come into their own..

Just look at the Hurstwood Bryony x Hurstwood Hannah, it has really deepened..this will be it's 3rd flush, so it pays to wait....

This is a new one it's a Mobisu x (arborea 'S' x Wildfire) , no perfume though.
Disappointing considering all the Arborea in it. It's a keeper though, I crossed it back to my Arborea.
Interesting to see if it carries the colour and if they are perfumed.

I love the way it has a two toned look, as the flower ages it fades to a pale pink as opposed to the deeper colour. it really is the colour of a musk stick.

My Arborea has flowered for the first time, I thought that it was a different sort of Brugmansia until it flowered......the seed must have been in the potting mix...
It's a lovely thing, small, white flowered as they are..and very precocious, it's has pods everywhere..
I've used it's pollen on a couple of Sanguinea hybrids and they have taken....
I'll only grow out a couple of each....fingers crossed that they develop to maturity..

The pods are growing rapidly, so it's just a matter of time now.

The pods on the hot pink flower have ripened, I hope.  the calyx is yellow and the peduncle has shrivelled, so I opened it and the seeds might be ok...Its only 2 ins long...funny little thing.
I will plant them and see.

Here is Alistair's long awaited seedling, in flower at last...Its (B.strybing vulsa x Sanguinea) x arborea...
It looks so much like a mini Archangel, when it first opens, then changes into a soft peach..I do like this one very much, I just hope that it doesn't get too tall...The perfume is sweet with a touch of citrus..

Arborea "S" x H Elinor
This white hybrid, recurves in a most charming way, It's perfume is a light chocolate, softer than a true arborea, I will keep this one if I can find the space.

Rosa Lila x Hurstwood Bow has flowered again.
It such a delicate colour. Starts off hot pink and fades to this lovely lilac.

The stripes are so effective on the corolla they really set off the delicate colour.
