TOLEDO'S GIFT

I first saw this one in a photo put on a website by it's hybridiser, Alistair Hay.
I just loved it.....A while later Alistair decided that it wasn't what he wanted from that particular cross, so he mentioned culling it. I asked him for a cutting before he did and he generously sent me a couple of pieces.... One rotted away but the other didn't.......Well if ever there was a stubborn so and so of a cutting, that was it. It wouldn't grow and it wouldn't die.. So it sat and sat for about two years with the wispiest root system you could imagine. Then one day it grew and then it bloomed..
It was love at first sight for me, Don't know how the bloom felt...
I asked Alistair if he would name it and he suggested that I do it. So it became Toledo's Gift.
My cutting is now a tree of at least 12 ft. It blooms several times a year and they are the loveliest little blooms, that look as though they are made of wax....Only a couple of growers have Toledo's Gift it is very difficult to start as a cutting, so I had to get the cuttings started by aerial layering and send them as growing plants. I'm certain that when they see the blooms they will love it as I do..
Here is Tantra x Yellow Aurea = Toledo's Gift
Thank you Alistair.
