What a colourful Autumn for 2014...it's been amazing...

Autumn 2014:

It's almost finished for the year and the flushes this autumn have been brilliant....
Now that we have planted the mother plants there are only the newer cultivars in pots except of course for Ray's Mayas..they will stay in situ for some years to come I would imagine..
The perfume in the garden is wonderful and it wafts into the bedrooms.

This will always be my favourite when it comes to colour, it has them all and you never know which colour it will open to......Ruffles & Flourishes x Bergkönigin.....I will have to name it this year...

Then there was THE DANCER showing off her colours and her 6 petal tips....

This is the richest orange that I have seen, it is just gorgeous.....LBG x Bergfeuer

Though without a doubt Elegant Angel is still my favourite...no changing colours for this lady..

I just had to include this one, not really correct with that (I'm not sure what I am) corolla or calyx, but the hot pink with the green striped top look terrific....
All purists please shut your eyes...

Just to finish off the Autumn, here are a few random pics that I have chosen from the garden
It's been a terrific time and as my Brugmansia population ages, I'm sure that there will be a lot more to come...

Even the whites got in on the act and turned apricot.....they are very pretty,,

Peach Fantasy decided to put on extra skirts and ended up with 4 of them, I wonder if she'll do that this spring?

No matter what colour The Dancer is, she is always recognisable...
Joli x Charleston, such a lovely shape.

Finally Brilliant Orange, Pink Panther and Platinum Blonde at the top...

Flowering in the Spring/Summer of 2013/2014

Spring and Summer 2013/2014:

This cv obviously takes after Charleston, it's such a lovely shape….
Charleston x (Bergfeuer x SuperSpot)
The perfume is lemon cake and although it is only a small tree, it flowers very well.

Charleston appears to be a very dominant parent, no matter where in the gene pool it's placed…

The Brugmansia pictured above in the heading is this cross..definitely one to keep.

Rosa Lila x Hurstwood Bow
A very soft lilac with a sweet perfume….
The flowers are very uniform in shape with lovely long petal tips.

Angels Swingtime x Angels Exotic..on the right and below.

This cv has an extra skirt underneath those flounces….It starts off lemon and ends up peach…
Waiting registration….approval has been given.
It is now...PEACH FANTASY.

Below…….Rosalla x Rothkirch produced this very elegant flower....it starts with a touch of pink on the corolla edge then the pink spreads up the flower
Registration has been applied for...and has been approved.
It is now known as ELEGANT ANGEL

Right….Ruffles & Flourishes x Bergkonigin is always a pleasure to see, the colourful flowers culminating in a pretty pink….A very stocky plant, this one has a lovely perfume that lingers 'till late in the morning.

Rosalla x Langenbuscher Garten below..I just love the colour that the warm weather induces in the creams, anything from apricot to peach...
,

Frosty Pink is an absolute gem in the garden, those big open faces greet you in the evening and into the late morning...The cv in these pics is known as Riverland Frosty Pink....we can't be certain, that it isn't a hybrid of the original.

Right … .The single pink is Dorthea x Sam
and this pic doesn't do it justice..
Those petal tips are very long and it has a lovely perfume.....

Left and right  is SuperSpot x Sam ......when it first flowered it was a big ugly thing, but it settled down to a very pretty pink double..

These are what keep me growing Brugmansias:

Here are some of the cultivars growing in my garden...

On the left is
Glasshouse Angel..
An Aurea hybrid
discovered in an old glasshouse..

On the right is

Rosa Lila x Hurstwood Bow.

This cross of Ruffles & Flourishes x Bergkönigin is particularly colourful...lots of yellow in the bloom before it settles to a deep pink.
 'The Dancer"

Left....
The flower from a fasciated branch of Pink Panther....

Right....
My first cross with 3 corollas, the
3rd is tucked inside the lower
corolla...

THIS LINK BELOW WILL TAKE YOU TO A VERY BRIEF VIDEO OF THE FLOWER, FOR MORE DETAILS GO TO TAB AT THE TOP…..
FASCIATED PINK PANTHER FLOWER.

ABOVE……..THIS IS MOBISU X VIOLET VELVET
I've been growing the 'cold' Brugmansias from seed for 18 months and now that they have started to flower, I can appreciate the beauty of their smaller flowers. I have quite a few still to open.

Left..Clementine..
The perfume on this cv is really wonderful...

I have crossed Clementine with several cvs that have orange in them, hoping for the brilliant colour without the occasional deformed blooms...

Maya a variegated Brugmansia

Below...

Maya is a wonderful plant for pots.
I have 2 in 45cm pots and they have been in them for 3yrs...
It stays small due the the constriction of the roots...but put it into the ground
and it soon reaches 3 metres...
A very pretty plant with a lovely, soft perfume...

At the moment I have 70 seedlings from 30cm up to 2mts, some will flower this year, others will take time and flower when they are tall enough....
One in particular I'm waiting on is (Morgensonne x The Chief) x Bergkönigin it should show a lot of orange, but it could turn out white....we'll see..

It turned out to be a butterscotch colour for it's first season, check out the page on oranges to see it.
